1. Information We Collect

When you use Dishnest, we collect the following information:

  • Account information: Name, email address, and authentication provider (email, Apple, or Google sign-in).
  • Profile information: Avatar photo, bio, dietary preferences, cuisine interests, skill level, and measurement system preference.
  • Content you create: Recipes, photos, and collections you create or save within the app.
  • Usage data: AI feature usage, app interactions, and device information for improving the service.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and personalize the Dishnest service, including AI-powered recipe suggestions, dietary conflict detection, and content recommendations.
  • To process your recipes through AI features such as recipe parsing, review, and ingredient substitution.
  • To display your public profile and recipes to other users.
  • To manage your subscription and in-app purchases via our payment processor (RevenueCat/Apple/Google).
  • To moderate content and ensure community safety.

3. AI Processing

Dishnest uses AI (powered by Anthropic's Claude) to provide features such as recipe generation, ingredient substitution, recipe review, and handwriting recognition. When you use these features:

  • Your input text and images are sent to Anthropic's API for processing.
  • AI responses may be cached to improve performance and reduce costs.
  • AI-generated content is clearly labeled where applicable.
  • AI dietary adaptations are suggestions, not medical advice. For severe allergies, always verify ingredients independently.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Anthropic (Claude AI): AI processing for recipe features.
  • Unsplash: Stock food photography for recipe cover images.
  • RevenueCat: Subscription and in-app purchase management.
  • DigitalOcean: Cloud infrastructure, database, and media storage.
  • Apple/Google: Authentication and app distribution.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on DigitalOcean servers in the EU (Frankfurt, Germany). We use encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Authentication tokens are stored securely on your device using platform-native secure storage.

6. Your Rights

You can:

  • Access and update your profile information at any time within the app.
  • Delete your account and all associated data from the Profile screen. This action is permanent and removes all your recipes, saved items, and personal data.
  • Request a copy of your data by contacting us.

7. Children's Privacy

Dishnest is rated 13+. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. All user-generated content and AI interactions are moderated for safety.
